6FT AP’ART

GROUP ART SHOW

APRIL 30, 2022

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK

On April 30, 2022 I had the opportunity to show several pieces at the 6 Feet Ap’art Show in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn. This recurring group show features art from the pandemic and is helmed by curator, Izzy Cummings.

The pieces featured were from yet another moment of deep grief, mourning the loss of a dear friend who passed unexpectedly in February 2022. Jen Hellow was a photographer and humanitarian working with unhoused people in Austin, Texas. These paintings are a re-imagining of death, and what happens after we cross the threshold. In an effort to commune with my dear friend, I created a series of paintings for her journey across the threshold.

“NOT YET”

A 30”x30” canvas, painted with acrylics, alcohol inks, plaster, and gold leaf.

“Baby Steps”

A series of 5 12” x 12”  canvases painted with acrylics and alcohol inks, gold leaf and a thin layer of art resin.
